Oprah was in town this weekend to debut her latest film and acting performance in Selma, a biopic about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the protest marches he led to the state capital in Montgomery, Alabama. According to local celebrity and dining personality Liam Mayclem, director Ava DuVernay's film received "a 5 minute standing ovation."
Later, as Hoodline's Castro bureau reports, the queen of media was spotted heading around the corner to Poesia, that underrated second-floor Italian osteria on 18th Street where it appears she received another standing ovation on the street. No word yet on if any of Poesia's menu items will make it on her annual list of favorite things, but one can always hope.
Selma, will see a wider release on December 25th, 2014 and opens everywhere on January 9th, 2015. Here's the trailer.
