Alba Ray’s, the Cajun restaurant from the team behind Popson’s and Causwell’s, makes its debut in the Mission with New Orleans-style and matching menu of Cajun-style food and drink. The 100-seat restaurant was designed by Arcsine (Duende, Calavera) with the Southern city in mind, from the tiles to the artwork.
The ornamental iron arches and hanging ferns are most reminiscent of the Crescent City’s laid-back decor, while a hand-painted floor mural, and fleurs-de-lys artwork from Caroline Lizarraga add personal touches. The bold tiles from SF’s own Fireclay tile bring in a West Coast vibe, a nice contrast with a purple velvet banquette, and marble-topped bar tables adorned with Crystal hot sauce.
Grab a seat at the bar, or at one of the tables and booths in the main dining room; a zinc-topped communal table is destined for shrimp and crawfish boils. The bar will offer up NOLA classics like Sazeracs and Hurricanes, wine, and draft beer (including Abita). Check out the full menu here.
The restaurant is open Sunday through Thursday from 5:30 p.m.- 11 p.m.; Friday and Saturday from 5:30 p.m.- 2 a.m. (dinner menu offered until midnight, bar food served from midnight- 2 a.m.). Expect lunch in the coming weeks.
