The Dish: Olea Today, Bin 38 Tomorrow
Tuesday, October 23, 2007

With a veritable bevy of openings slated for the week, it's a busy time for The Dish, your source for the latest unveilings around town. Notice a restaurant that recently debuted? We accept tips.

1) Olea: Now open on the Nob Hill corner of California and Larkin is Olea, pictured above. Right across the street from Luisa Hanson's next (mis)adventure, the casual cafe is open for lunch from 11:30 to 2pm and dinner from 5:30 to 9:30 (and a very early 10pm on weekends; that early bird ...). As for the cuisine, it's your increasingly-standard San Francisco menu: California-Mediterranean, local farms, organic, etc, etc. 1494 California St at Larkin St, Nob Hill (415) 202-8521 [EaterWire]

2) Bin 38: Tomorrow shall mark the debut of Bin 38, the Marina's newest wine bar. As mentioned earlier in various editions of the Plywood Report, Bin 38 will showcase New World wines, with a fancy beer list and small plates menu by consulting chef James Schenk of Destino. Sitting right in the hub of the Marina, the nice little picnic tables on Scott should make for great people watching. According to one of the co-owners, "this is not 'just another wine bar.'" Personally, we're looking forward to substantiating rumors of a fire pit in the back patio. We suppose that would make it a bit different. But would a fire pit repel the engagement ring brigade that calls the Marina wine bar circuit its second home? Not likely. But America has one word that says it all: you never know. 3232 Scott St between Chestnut and Lombard, The Marina [EaterWire, EaterWire Inbox]
