EaterWire: 1300 Menu Revealed, Senses Returns and Keller Honored (Again Again)
Monday, November 5, 2007

2007_11_1300interior.jpgFILLMORE—The as-yet bare bones website for Fillmore jazz-lounge behemoth 1300 (pictured) has been updated to include Chef David Lawrence's menu. Some individual items had been leaked in the PR blast earlier, but it's always nice to see the full version, complete with prices (nothing is more annoying than an online menu sans prices, right?). Apps are in the $8-$12 range and the entrees are $17-$29. [EaterWire, Official Site]

THE MISSION—Well, look who's back after a brief hiatus. From a tipster: "Senses (1152 Valencia St) has re-opened. In its initial version it tried to hard to pull of some cross-cultural dishes and failed. It closed for several months and then re-opened. It is now more of a Mediterranean style small plates restaurant. It is not breaking any new ground but the food is pretty good. The wine list is pathetic but maybe they will be working on it." [EaterWire Inbox]

FOOD AWARDS—On Thursday, the Anti-Defamation League and the Four Seasons will host the Command Performance, the 2007 Wine and Food Industries Achievement Awards dinner. A very special fund-raising four-course meal will be prepared by Gregory Short (Masa's), Michael Tusk (Quince) Luke Sung (Isa) and Elizabeth Falkner (Citizen Cake). Thomas Keller will be an honoree, reminding us once that again that this Food Jesus' world and we should be happy to live in it. [Zagat Buzz]

EATER BOOK CLUB—One of the better wine blogs on these here interwebs is written by Jamie Goode, who just published a great book called The Science of Wine. From Vinography: "It’s a wide-ranging list of topics that should have something for everyone: deficit irrigation, climate change, Brettanomyces, alcohol reduction, screwcaps, how the brain makes sense of flavor, and a dozen others." [Vinography]
