Congrats Hayes Valley, You Get a Subway Franchise

One of the better restaurant blocks in Hayes Valley—or on its fringes, for you geography sticklers—is the island on/off Market Street that sees Zuni Cafe, CAV Wine Bar, Espetus Churrascaria and Hotel Biron all nearly next to each other. So naturally, when the Art Deco shuttered, curiosity ran high; would there be a hot haute newcomer to the gourmet block? Sadly, from a photo-snapping tipster comes word that Subway will move in, proving that not even Hayes Valley is immune to the plague of chain fast food: "Looks like the recently closed l'Art Deco furniture store @ Market & Gough (next to Espetus) is going to be a Subway. Let the earth swallow me up right now."
