Pre-Plywood Update: The Dogpatch Project
Wednesday, January 30, 2008, by Paolo

2007_11_dogpatch%282%29.jpgDetails continue to come into focus regarding the third endeavor by Team A16/SPQR. To quickly recap, the Dogpatch Project—sounds like a code name à la the Manhattan Project, no?—will be at Esprit Park, which as you can see from the November photo of the space to the right, is still very much in heavy construction. The physical deets have been known (120-30 seats, adjacent takeout rosticerria, very green, etc), but now the Scoop brings word of a theme for A16, version 3.0:

The theme, according to [Victoria] Libin and [Nate] Appleman, will be food from Italy's Le Marche region, which is influenced by flavors from Greece, Croatia and Slovenia as well as neighboring Umbria, Tuscany, Emilia Romagna and Abruzzo.

The wine list will incorporate those regions as well, along with a good selection of grappa, and cocktails that reflect what was popular among Americans stationed in Italy right after World War II.

Late 2008—possibly November—is the very preliminary word on a possible ETA, and the endeavor still remains unnamed ... for now. (Cue the suspenseful music.)
