The Dish: The Spot Lounge, Citronelle, Taste at Oxbow

1) The Spot Lounge: The transformation from the Parkside Restaurant to the Spot Lounge is finally complete, and it is certainly a dramatic one. To get a taste of the change, compare Yelp reviews of the little Sunset space:

Before: "Parkside is a down low dining establishment. Most of the people eating there are locals and typically seniors. The prices and quality of food is on par with my rating ... My personal favorite broiled chicken, hamburger with mushroom, and the garlic bread."

After: "so this is my homies place. had a soft opening last night. you better like it. or ima kick you in the box. its a toyose/shintoe/rohan/sunset flavor all in one. ima stop by tonight again to try out the kitchen stuff. drinks wise, shit, fat tire on tap, and cold bottles of soju."

Tinted windows—as in, windows normally reserved for automobiles—now adorn the Taraval storefront, and the menu has shifted to "Korean/American." 2) Citronelle: It's a bit out of our coverage area, but when Michel Richard is involved, mentions are most certainly warranted. So, next time you're down the coast in Carmel, Citronelle is certainly worth consideration. From the Chron: "The newly renovated Carmel Valley Ranch is home to the West Coast branch of the destination spot in Washington, D.C. Michel Richard, who was named Outstanding Chef by the James Beard Foundation in 2007, has created a local Californian menu using French techniques. 3) Taste at Oxbow: While much of the Oxbow Market remains a work in progress, including Taylor's Refresher, more shops are opening, like a winetasting salon (not a wine bar, mind you). From the Napa Valley Register: "Taste at Oxbow, a winetasting salon featuring the wines of Waterstone and Mahoney Vineyards, opened Friday in Napa corner across from Taylor's Refresher.
