Down the Peninsula, not only is Coyote Point's scenic, once-grand Castaway Restaurant a thing of the past, it's completely demolished. And the San Mateo County Times certainly doesn't sugarcoat the restaurant obituary one bit: "There is no sign of the Castaway Restaurant that once graced a promontory at Coyote Point... After it had been closed, the dining spot, located on prime land featuring spectacular views of San Francisco Bay, deteriorated to the point where it had become an eyesore. Its time had come and gone. It had no future." Ouch. [SMCT]
