Toy Story, Part II
Wednesday, February 27, 2008
The Chronicle puts together a lengthy obit on the late Tommy Toy, name dropping everyone from Herb Caen to Willie Brown. Our favorite piece of storybook nostalgia, though, comes from the comments field: "I remember going to Mr Toy's restaurant once and finding that the service was a little slow. While my party and I complained amongst ourselves, we noticed an older gentleman at the next table (who for some reason got served tea in an extra large mug) listening keenly to our conversation. He asked us about our thoughts and opinions of the restaurant, of which we informed him. He listened carefully, taking in every word, then he introduced himself as Tommy Toy." [Chron]
