The Cafe V. the Castro

The Cafe may have gotten approval from the city to increase its hours and tack on a restaurant; but if you thought the NIMBYs were going to back off, you'd be very wrong, because the approval conditions demand a short leash, which guarantees more neighborhood whining: "Neighbor Alan Beach had once criticized the club as a bad neighbor but in an e-mail he wrote, 'We can have the peaceful and quiet enjoyment of our homes in an urban, thriving environment.' However, he wrote, 'the Cafe's current, or future management, would be naive to think that residents would not be swift in responding to any violations.'" [BAR, previously]
