EaterWire: Last Call For Healthy SF Compliance, Armed Robbery at Beretta, Food Network Gets Emmy Noms
Wednesday, April 30, 2008

All the day's news and notes go in EaterWire. As always, please pass along your tidbits.

2008_04_berettabar.jpgSAN FRANCISCO—This might be a good time to remind everyone, local restaurants in particular, that today is the last day for businesses to comply with the Healthy SF mandate. Regardless of whether they are implementing surcharges, the vast majority of restaurants apparently waited until the last minute to send in the paperwork and proper fees, and last we heard, there are still "quite a few" of employers (restaurants and otherwise) that have yet to file any sort of documentation. There are has been speculation that some restaurants will refuse to comply and opt to pay the fine, so it will be interesting to see who's in. [EaterWire]

THE MISSION—Late into service last night, Beretta, the newest restaurant in the Mission, was robbed at gunpoint with people inside. There's not much else to say on the matter, but should you be so inclined, a first-hand account can be had here. [EaterWire]

TELEVISION—The nominations for the Daytime Emmys have been announced, and the Food Network is the proud bearer of eight nods, with the big ("big") category of Outstanding Lifestyle Host up for grabs between Ina Garten for Barefoot Contessa, Bobby Flay for Boy Meets Grill, Giada de Laurentiis for Everyday Italian, Nigella Lawson for Nigella Express, and PBS' Todd English for Food Trip with Todd English. We were going to make a Rachael Ray wisecrack until we realized her talk show was nominated for the Outstanding Talk Show/Entertainment award. They're giving out those things like candy. [LAT]
