Plywood Report: Wine Bar in Cartwright Hotel, Much More

Welcome back to the Plywood Report, your regular, all-encompassing chronicle of the next generation of restaurants and bars to grace our fair city. Spot something new on your block? The tip line awaits. Bonus points and a 4% surcharge if you include photos.

1) Union Square: Just off the corner of Powell, Sutter Street's Cartwright Hotel is renovating their entire ground-floor lobby area (among other things) and part of the redesign involves the installation of a new wine bar called 1915. Work is expected to be done in two to three weeks, and per standard wine bar protocol, there will be small bites for consumption in addition to the vino. [PLYWOOD]

2) Pacific Heights: The old, red Fillmore Grill facade has been completely eliminated, and new canopies, logos and entryways are up at Long Bar and Bistro. The signs declaring an April opening are long gone too, and even though it appears the interior has been close to ready for some time now, we'll postulate that they might be waiting on red tape to clear up. 3) Yerba Buena: A tipster sends along a shot of the current NOW HIRING!!! ads adorning the windows at Amber India: "My favorite thing about it is that the word upscale is underlined." So please don't confuse Amber India with any old Indian restaurant. [Eater Inbox]

4) NoPa: Quoth another photo-snapping tipster from Fulton and Masonic: "This is inside of the old Fulton Street Bar. It is all empty but pretty clean, like it is getting ready for something." We still don't know what—if anything—is going on over yonder, so if you know something, share something. [Eater Inbox]

5) Polk Gulch: More bars cometh, and work is well underway at McTeague's, the pub that is going in right next door to O'Reilly's Holy Grail at 1237 Polk after it got approved by the Planning Commission. The bar is in there, making general layout of the space evident, but there's not much else at this point. [PLYWOOD]

6) FiDi: Last but certainly not least is an update from Dennis Leary's Sentinel on the corner of Stevenson and New Montgomery. The background on the project is here, and it looks to be moving along pretty quickly, which given the size of the space, should come as too much of a surprise. We're guessing early June. [PLYWOOD]
