The Dish: Cafe Verde, Miss Saigon, Camino, Cin-Cin
Wednesday, May 21, 2008

The teary eyes of The Shutter are offset by the glad tidings brought by The Dish, your source for all the latest restaurant and bar openings. Spot something new in your nabe? Send along your sightings.

1) Financial District: There's a new lunch spot in the FiDi, as Cafe Verde opened earlier today on Kearny Street. The plywood vet is an offshoot/reincarnation of the old Cafe Verde up the road in North Beach. Word on the street is that it's your standard cafe fare, but anyone who stopped by today should testify. 260 Kearny Street, between Bush and Sutter; (415) 956-9596 [EaterWire]

2) SoMa: Right around the corner from Mint Plaza, Sixth Street's makeover continues with opening of Miss Saigon. On the corner of Mission, the Vietnamese restaurant also debuted today, will be open Monday through Saturday 10:30am to 9pm, features a pho-heavy menu, and has an oh-so-cute awning. 100 Sixth Street, at Mission; (415) 522-0332 [EaterWire]

3) Oakland: There are already a few good reports on Chowhound about Camino, the latest in the long line of Chez Panisse offshoots. The chef is former CP Cafe chef Russell Moore, the "airy" space is getting raves, church furniture is involved, there's a wood oven, and overall it looks like it should do Alice proud. 3917 Grand Avenue, Oakland; (510) 547-5035; website [Chowhound]

4) Los Gatos: The organic wine bar trend takes to the South Bay with Cin-Cin Wine Bar and Restaurant. From the Chron: "Executive chef Chris Schloss has created a globally inspired menu that may include a variety of cheeses, seasonal flatbreads and crispy lamb meatballs." 368 Village Lane, Los Gatos; (408) 354-8006 [Chron]
