In a shocker, the South Bay branch of the Mission's famed La Taqueria unexpectedly and suddenly closed down, but SF location is (supposedly) safe from the shutter, even though the 67-year-old owner is slowing down: "The South First Street eatery — known for its carne asada and carnitas — normally shuts down for a couple of weeks around the holidays. This year, though, it didn't re-open, and equipment and furnishings were moved out within days." Insult to injury: Carl's Jr. is the new tenant. [SJMN]
