Noe Valley: It might have been a long time coming, but Contigo is finally up and running on Castro Street, just off 24th. The restaurant—self-described as a Spanish/Catalan kitchen and cava—is the passion project of its chef and owner Brett Emerson, and if all goes to plan, it's hoping to become the next neighborhood destination in the city. All kinds of sustainable and reclaimed materials were used in the build-out, and the dining room features plenty of unique design details (angles everywhere). There's also a heated outdoor patio in the back, plus two "bar" areas in the space: one in the dining room and another in the entrance, overlooking the open kitchen and wood-fired oven. Further reading on Contigo can be had in the Eater Archives, and at Emerson's blog, Daily Feed and Chowhound.
