Columnist Jon Carroll pens a love letter to the local coffeeshop gone big, Peet's. In it, he points out that despite being put on the same level as Starbucks nowadays, the numbers indicate that Peet's is still "a minnow in the globalization ocean," and more importantly, that those Sausalito people opposed to Peet's should stop being such ninnies: "... all Peet's become mini-agoras, gathering places for neighbors who want to shoot a little fat and chew a little breeze ... I hope the city fathers and mothers take advantage of the opportunity and allow Peet's into their picturesque community." [Chron]
