Chez TJ Names a New Chef, JLS Market Gets LEED Approval

2010_01_cheztj.jpgMOUNTAIN VIEW—Down in the lovely land of neither mountains nor views, Chez TJ has found itself a new chef after the totally awesome public spat that took place in December between owner George Aviet and (now former) chef Bruno Chemel. Per tomorrow's Scoop, the new chef is Scott Nishiyama, who was previously the chef de cuisine at Yoshi's, and his new menu, a $85 tasting one, is already in play. Better get those two Michelin stars, guy. [Chron]

OAKLAND—The centerpiece of the would-be JLS $375 million renaissance, the Jack London Square Marketplace, has had its share of delays, but this week it earned LEED Silver certification. The developers say that the building’s green practices "directly align with its new use as a regional destination for quality, sustainable food." [BT, previously]

COMMENT OF THE DAYFrom the Salumi Smugglers story: "McDonald's burgers are also more dangerous than people think, but I could pack one of them on a plane if I wanted to." [~ESF~]
