It's time for a status update on Vinyl, the new wine bar from Kris Esqueda and Mark Bright that pops-up nightly at Cafe Divis. Esqueda tells Eater that February has been a sort of soft-launch period for the bar, and there's lots coming up in March. For now, Casey's Pizza is regularly hosting pizza nights on Wednesdays starting at 6:30 p.m. with four different pies and a Central Coast sangiovese pairing available for $7/glass all night.
Next Tuesday, February 22nd, they'll start a program of regular food truck guest appearances with Eat Curbside. Chairman Bao will moonlight Tuesday, March 8 and the two trucks will alternate every other Tuesday from there on out. They'll park it outside Vinyl on the corner. Customers will be able to bring their food inside to partake in wine pairings chosen specifically for the various menu items.
Then on Sunday, February 27th, the boys will start a regular handmade pasta night with Saison ex-sous chef Jonathan de Wolf, who learned the pasta-making trade while during a prior gig at Acquerello. Four different pastas will be offered with the option of pairing one with a glass of wine for $20. Pasta nights will continue until June.
Not done yet! Vinyl's plans to get a regular menu up and running are also still in the works. They are currently talking to a potential chef "with a similar pedigree to Saison," but can't release the name yet. Also on the docket: 4 beers, 2 white wines, 2 red wines and kombucha on-tap and a DIY wine blending program similar to what Bright is doing over at Dcantr. We imagine there will be more coming from these guys in the next month or so. So stay tuned.
