Attention food court lovers: today The Metreon unleashes "phase 1" of its glorious return in a new and improved state. It's only fitting that the renovated AMC Metreon theaters and 20,000 square foot City View event space, should have some agreeable new dining options to go along with them. As of tomorrow Jillian’s Billiard Club, Sanraku, Buckhorn Grill, San Francisco Soup Co., and SoGreen Yogurt will be available for consumption in a portion the new 470-seat "Dining Terrace" with views of Yerba Buena gardens.
Cako Bakery, Cako Creamery, La Boulange and the food-less Massage Envy are all coming later this month. Get a great idea of the layout via this Directory's aerial view.
The majority of the food spots will be opening sometime this Spring: Super Duper Burger, Creperie Saint Germain, Chipotle, Sorabol Korean, Stone Oven Gourmet, Brandi Ho's, Freshroll Vietnamese, Firewood Cafe, Split Bread, Inay Filipino Kitchen and Coriander Gourmet Thai.
All of the food businesses are required to use compostable and recyclable food containers, plates, cups, and utensils. In so doing, the Westfield projects to reduce waste by 80 percent, and divert a half-million pounds from landfills—impressive for a mall/food court situation. Another bonus: many of these will provide street access on Fourth St., so you can bypass the mall part all together if you so desire. They're also looking into solar energy, wind energy and a sustainable dance floor. Hey, kidding about that last part.
Shoppers take note that the first SF City Target is coming in late 2012. Tell us what you think of the new look right here.
