The Dish: Tiziano Tomorrow, Plus Clementine and MORE!
All the latest and greatest openings around town are served up via The Dish. Notice a new debut in your neighborhood recently? The tip line awaits your sightings.
1) Outer Richmond: Literal last minute delays have hit Tiziano, and the new Italian joint won't be opening tonight, as previously scheduled until this morning. The interior has undergone a semi-facelift, hedging toward the rustic Tuscan theme that now encompasses the former Karamanduka space. Lunch and dinner, starting tomorrow, is the aim, though we're not quite sure how well lunch service will play in the Outer Richmond. Might be a hard sell, especially considering the semi-cursed space, not mention the owners' prior effort is of the kebab variety. 1801 Clement Street, at 19th, (415) 422-0502 [Eater Staff]

Yesterday marked the official debut for Double Decker, the new inhabitants of the former Zoya two-tiered space in Hayes Valley. As mentioned earlier, Double Decker is going for the traditional, un-gourmet burger and wings route, which will either be a refreshing change of pace for Hayes Valley or a plain, simple flop. 465 Grove Street, between Gough and Octavia; Open daily 10:30am-9pm; (415) 552-8042 [EaterWire, previously]

The Dish: Icebee, Yogurt Harmony, Zitouna Cafe
All the latest and greatest restaurant openings are served up regularly via The Dish. See a new restaurant in your neighborhood? The tip jar awaits.

1) SoMa: Right behind the Westfield mall and next door to sister eatery/pot pie purveyor The Cravery, Icebee opened its doors this past weekend. The plywood vet is trying to differentiate itself from the frozen yogurt masses by taking the self-serve and pay by weight approach. Five do-it-yourself dispensers with multiple flavors are to the right of the pictured counter, and once toppings are added, the patron pays the logical fee of 39 cents per ounce. Afterwards, feel free to swing next door and wash it down with a Chipotle Chicken Fajita handheld pot pie. 829 Mission Street, between Fourth and Fifth, Phone N/A [Eater Staff]

From a FiDi worker comes word that Made in Japan Teriyaki Experience—the mega-chain really made in Canada—has opened its first SF location on Kearny: "My coworkers and I braved it for lunch and were not impressed. Their whole shtick is that they cook food on teppanyaki tabletop grills in front of you, and that the food is healthy (Live Right, Eat Right! tm). The veggies are great but the meat is cooked in water not oil, and tastes like you think it would taste - boiled meat with some good teriyaki sauce on top ... In short - not a chain I'll be visiting any time in the future. And what's up with the name, anyways - "Made in Japan Teriyaki Experience" - sounds like an amusement park ride!" [Eater Inbox]
The Dish: Slightly-Revamped Clementine Opens
All the latest and greatest openings around town are served up via The Dish. Notice a new debut in your neighborhood? Please do share your sightings.

Last night, Clementine opened its doors for the first time since Didier Labbé sold the place to Philippe Gardelle, owner of the nearby Chapeau. At roughly 9pm, both the bar and dining room were sprinkled with about a dozen or so patrons, mostly couples. For the most part, the space looks the same as it did during the last regime, though the bar area is newly-installed. Also, as mentioned earlier in the week, Clementine is open in its purely-functional form, which means that during the day (i.e., now), work is still in full swing, but if last night is any indication, once evening comes along, the place is glossed over and open for business, both at the bar and in the dining room. We've said it once and we'll say it again: Gardelle's a mad genius.

UPDATE: The saga continues: after opening briefly for V-Day, Clementine decided there's a bit more work to be done before a grand reopening. The new date, as of February 18th: the weekend of the 22nd.

The Dish: Umi, Brandy Ho's and MORE!
All the latest and greatest openings around town are served up via The Dish. Notice a new debut in your neighborhood recently? The Dish Hotline awaits your sightings.

1) Potrero Hill: Perhaps the folks behind Umi warrant inclusion in the Barleycorn Survivors roster, as Skipjack Sushi has weathered its Hanson takeover on Union Street to reopen in its new form on Potrero Hill. Only dinner is being served now, with lunch and outdoor seating in the rear patio on tap in the future. Takeout is being offered, and the menu consists of the usual Japanese sushi options for the most part, with the logo reading "sushi, sake, small plates." 1328 18th Street, between Missouri and Texas; (415) 355-1328 [Eater Staff]

The Dish: Watami, Cottage Eatery, Chris Elbow, More
The teary eyes of The Shutter are offset by the hopeful ones of The Dish, your source for all the town's latest and greatest openings. See something stirring in your neighborhood? The Dish Hotline awaits.

1) The Richmond: Ramen joint, shabu shabu shop, and plywood vet Watami (pictured above) opens tomorrow for lunch and dinner. Thrillist has the goods on the menu, which looks fairly promising, at least in theory, keeps most items under $10. 5344 Geary Blvd., between 17th and 18th; (415) 876-0808 [Eater Staff]
2) Tiburon: Taking a trip across the Golden Gate to Marin—aka Tyler Florence territory—the Cottage Eatery opened yesterday for the first time, which means that the tabletops have arrived apparently (hopefully): "Their menu, which is small and boutique-like, features local, sustainable comfort foods with a twist ... I didn't have a full meal there yet but was impressed with a menu that features grilled baby octopus with citrus, fennel, smoked eggplant and Cerignola olives; braised beef brisket and tongue, caramelized onions, root vegetables and fresh horseradish; and stewed honeycomb tripe in tomato and parmesan with slow cooked egg and grilled bread. That's adventurous by most Marin County standards." 114 Main Street, Marin, (415) 789-5636; website [MIJ]

Fro-Yo Wars: Tuttimelon Debuts, Unveils Expansion Plans

The second round of fro-yo openings has begun. Over the weekend, frozen yogurt purveyor and noted Jubili knockoff Tuttimelon opened its doors to the foggy skies of the Sunset. As of last night, they are still offering a 99-cent opening special, and according to the store ads, the fro-yo offerings "improve digestive health." TuttiBonus: no less than eight more branches are in the works around the Bay, including the former Santa Barbara Ice Creamery space in the Marina (2240 Chestnut) and in the current Yoogo space on the corner of Broadway and Columbus. Even if it's across Columbus, might North Beach get a fro-yo shop after all? 2150 Irving Street, between 22nd and 23rd, The Sunset; website

The Dish: The Spot Lounge, Citronelle, Taste at Oxbow
All the latest and greatest openings around town are served up via The Dish. Notice a new debut in your neighborhood recently? The Dish Hotline awaits your sightings.

1) The Spot Lounge: The transformation from the Parkside Restaurant to the Spot Lounge is finally complete, and it is certainly a dramatic one. To get a taste of the change, compare Yelp reviews of the little Sunset space:
Before: "Parkside is a down low dining establishment. Most of the people eating there are locals and typically seniors. The prices and quality of food is on par with my rating ... My personal favorite broiled chicken, hamburger with mushroom, and the garlic bread."
After: "so this is my homies place. had a soft opening last night. you better like it. or ima kick you in the box. its a toyose/shintoe/rohan/sunset flavor all in one. ima stop by tonight again to try out the kitchen stuff. drinks wise, shit, fat tire on tap, and cold bottles of soju."
Tinted windows—as in, windows normally reserved for automobiles—now adorn the Taraval storefront, and the menu has shifted to "Korean/American." Reports have the Spot Lounge being open from 5pm to 2am as of tonight, and you're risking getting kicked "in the box" if you don't like it. 2325 Taraval Street, between 33rd Ave & 34th Ave, Outer Sunset, (415) 564-4464 [Eater Staff]

Curious Debuts: Still-Papered Brandy Ho's Opens

Sneakery is afoot at the first offshoot of Chinatown(ish) semi-institution Brandy Ho's. Down on 18th Street in the Castro, the modern-looking exterior—well, modern compared to the archaic original—is still wrapped in brown paper, but we now have word that behind the paper is a restaurant open for business. The catch: since the interior (post-jump) is not ready, only delivery and pick-up are currently available. The menu is the same as the original location, but the Brandy Ho's folks insist they are doing the cooking at the Castro location (though investigations/theories are very welcome). Also, the advertised Blue Bottle Coffee offerings are not yet in effect, and won't be until the "grand" opening.

Live From Mint Plaza: Blue Bottle Cafe Arrives

For the first time, there are people wandering around Mint Plaza who are not A) construction workers, B) lost or C) toothless. Yes, Blue Bottle Cafe officially opened this morning, in all its understated glory. The space itself is small, with 12 or so seats lining the windows and a dozen more at the communal table in the middle. Lines are bordering on out the door (though just about 6-8 deep), and there are several media folks hovering in and around. One curiosity: morning/brunch menu stops at 11ish, and the evening menu doesn't kick off until 3:30, which means that lunch-breakers—we're looking at you, Chronicle—only have the option of four to five pastry goods. Just FYI.

The Dish: Citizen Thai and the Monkey, Reborn
Welcome back to The Dish, your source for all the latest and greatest openings around this foggy town of ours. Per normal, the Dish Hotline awaits your tips. Today, we're happy to present a very special episode, titled "Curious Mashups."

1) King Cha Cha: About a month after Citizen Thai and the Monkey bolted the premises almost overnight (leaving its staff high and dry), King Cha Cha has now opened in the newly-painted and very slightly-redone Citizen Thai building (the Monkey news post-jump). Thai cuisine remains upstairs, though it appears to have gotten a price bump, with most rice and noodle dishes in $14 range and seafood entrees reaching as high as $28. Open for both lunch and dinner. 1268 Grant Avenue, at Vallejo, North Beach, (415) 391-8215 [Eater Staff]
