Bauer 100 Aftermath: Last Restaurant In, Plus Reactions

The 100, sorted by cuisine: Pescheria present, Firefly left off.
As usual, Michael Bauer's list of the top 100 restaurants in the Bay Area has provoked plenty of discussion. While there might be some eyebrow-raisers among the newcomers and remnants from '07, we'd venture to say that this year, there might be more buzz surrounding those restaurants that didn't make it, particularly since one currently holds a perfect four stars (the Ritz), another had four stars until recently (Fleur de Lys) and La Taqueria has been the cheap eats delegate since the Top 100 was started in 1996.

EaterWire: 19 Newcomers to Bauer's Top 100
Technically, Michael Bauer's annual Top 100 list of Bay Area restaurants won't be come out until the Sunday edition of the Chronicle, but thanks to some special leakage, we have the 2008 list a few days earlier. We'll save the analysis for next week, but as for the initial impressions: not a lot of big surprises on the additions, but a good amount of local heavies missed the cut the year, including one perennial cheap eats fave and one former four-star.
Without further ado, here are the 19 new restaurants that cracked the 2008 version of the Top 100 (the 19 restaurants that got booted, along with the entire 100, follow the jump): Bar Bambino, BarbersQ, Cafe Majestic, Cav, Ducca, Flora, Laiola, Nick's Cove, O Izakaya, One Market, Plumed Horse, Poggio, Rosso Pizzeria & Wine Bar, Shanghai 1930, SPQR, Spruce, Ubuntu, Wood Tavern and Yoshi's San Francisco.
And now, the ones that were left behind:
