The Dish: Debut Night For Blue Barn, Horizon
The autumnal months are a busy time for The Dish, your source for the latest unveilings around town. Notice a restaurant that recently debuted? The Dish Hotline eagerly awaits your reports.
1) Blue Barn Gourmet: Inspections were passed with flying colors and Blue Barn will open for the first time tonight at 5pm. Among the items on the cafe menu are grilled panini, chef's specialty sandwiches "sandos" and gourmet salads, available custom or pre-designed. We're also told there's some sidewalk seating forthcoming. Yelpers, no one has achieved "first to review" status on BBG yet. You're slacking. 2105 Chestnut Street, at Steiner, The Marina; (415) 441-3232 [Eater Staff]
2) Horizon: As mentioned yesterday morning, Horizon finally lifts off tonight. There are plenty of reasons to be excited about Horizon. First and foremost, one could conceivably purchase a $47 lobster-foie gras-truffle Kobe beef burger from Chef Ivan Tam (ere of Pres a Vi). That, friends, is fun. Second, the Broadway/North Beach area finally has a late-night eats destination not called Golden Boy or Centerfolds. Finally, if Ola Fendert (Oola) is involved (he is), braised ribs are always a good idea. Trust us. 498 Broadway, at Kearny, North Beach, (415) 576-1118, website [Eater Staff]

The Dish: Eguna Basque, O Izakaya Lounge, Blue Barn Gourmet, Tasty at Jack's
The Dish is your source for restaurant openings in and around town. Notice a restaurant that recently debuted? We gladly accept your tips.

1) Eguna Basque: If you happen to like crepes—and frankly, who doesn't?—you're in luck, because when Eguna Basque reopens tomorrow, it will pretty much be all crepes, all the time. They've completely abandoned the "cafe" theme and are reinventing themselves as a crepe house. Prices are reasonable, as are expectations to find a decent crepe. 1657 Powell Street, between Green & Union, North Beach; (415) 362-2141 [Eater Staff]
2) O Izakaya Lounge: The Hotel Kabuki's shiny new izakaya is now open ... to hotel guests. We're not quite sure if you have to swipe your room key for entrance or what, but the place has been abuzz for the last couple nights. According to our source, the "official" opening will be next week. In other words, they have invented a new kind of opening somewhere in between soft and official. 1625 Post St, between Buchanan & Laguna, Japantown; Phone n/a [Eater Staff]

DelayWire: Red Tape Not Fun, But Excuses Are Enjoyable
Fall is a time for restaurant openings, but when said restaurants open is anyone's guess. With a flurry of debuts looming, here is a rundown on the various states of affairs. As always, your hints to sf@eater.com

1) Japantown: Though we suspected an opening this week was a longshot—despite the hopeful outlook of a source there—next week remains the date for the Hotel Kabuki's O Izakaya Lounge. The official opening is tagged for the 15th, but look for a soft opening this weekend. As we shared last week, the place looks ready to roll. Reason for delay: practicing, training the staff, sorting out the menu. [EaterWire]
2) The Marina: Chestnut Street eatery Blue Barn Gourmet is reportedly ready to debut, but they "are at the mercy of the health department." Assuming they pass inspections and the like (the health inspectors come today), they could open as soon as this Saturday. According to BBG, next Tuesday or Wednesday is the latest. Reason for delay: health permits, general red tape [EaterWire]

Plywood Report: Out the Door, Bar Jules and MORE!
Welcome back to the Plywood Report, your regular, all-encompassing source for the next generation of San Francisco restaurants still in various stages of construction. Big, small, ugly? We've got you covered. See something a-brewing in your neighborhood? Drop us a line. Also: a gold star if you include photos.

1) Pacific Heights: Checking the above scene at 2232 Bush Street (right off Fillmore), the third location of Out the Door by Charles Phan remains a ways off. The plumbing was just completed this week, but that late fall prognostication may have to be pushed back a bit. [PLYWOOD]
2) Hayes Valley: Quoth a Hayes Valleyian, "This little spot in Hayes Valley taking over what used to be the Don't Call It Frisco Laundromat (next door to Suppenkuche) is going to be called Bar Jules. It's on 609 Hayes Street between Laguna and Buchanan. Construction has been going on for at least 7-8 months. I saw a poster on the window saying they'll be open in November 2007 but the latter half of the month would be my guess. Would have snapped a picture but my camera phone a piece of." [Eater Inbox]

Plywood Report: Sushi Groove Patio Makes Minimal Progress, Pacific Catch in the Sunset and MORE
This here is the Plywood Report, your regular, all-encompassing source for the next generation of San Francisco restaurants still in various stages of construction. From splashy, big-name endeavors to smaller remodelings, we've got you covered. See something a-brewing in your neighborhood? Drop us a line. Also: bonus appreciation if you include photos.

1) Mint Plaza: Much more Mint Plaza fun is on tap later this week, but to satiate your Jessie Street cravings, we present this teaser shot of the Sushi Groove patio. The only discernible difference from last fortnight? Literally, three bricks and some plants around the pole have been added, but in all fairness, the interior is coming along quite nicely. December is still the goal. [PLYWOOD]
