The First Street project by Oola owners Ola Fendert and Maria Hilario-Fendert continues along quite nicely. Affectionately dubbed by Zagat as a "loungey localvore vino venue," Local is probably the most anticipated restaurant opening in the near future; in other words, its debut actually seems within striking distance. Peeking inside the cozy, low-ceiling space, bar stools are halfway set up, paint has begun to grace the walls and of course, an open kitchen showcases beautiful views of that wood-fired oven. If you need more clues as to the nature of the place, consider the preview poster gracing the front window: "You could learn a lot about your neighborhood over a glass of wine." Conclusion: in several weeks, Local will be the latest piece of evidence in the rise of the friendly neighborhood restaurant.
