Toast Eatery: Expanding ... Somewhere ... Probably [Photo: Flickr/homernoh]
CASTRO—Despite finally reopening this past Saturday, Mecca has yet to nail down a final, definite menu. According to a source at the Castro hotspot, they have special events on Wednesday and Thursday (read about their Halloween party here), so they'll use those two "off-days" to shore up the menu for the weekend. No word on whether or not Chef Randy Lewis will follow the same "experiential dining" theme as the pre-fire version. [EaterWire]
FISHERMAN'S WHARF—More information is leaking out about Mood, the new Thai restaurant coming to Beach Street in the onetime taqueria space. Traditionalists won't be happy to hear that, in addition to Thai food, it will also showcase sushi and other Asian fusion dishes. Mood will be the third project from the people behind Be My Guest Thai Bistro on Clement and Los Angeles' Gindi Thai, so expect a trendy spot. Chalk up another item on the reinvention of the wharf. San Francisco will reclaim that area! [EaterWire]
NOE VALLEY—Noe Valley people, here is an update from the rumor mill that has been hearing (unsubstantiated) whispers about Toast possibly taking over the 24th Street space that once housed Herb's Fine Foods. From the Toast people: "We are expanding but there's no more information available at this point." Hmm, curious, no? [EaterWire]
