The Dish: Mood Thai, Matador, Shokolaat

All the latest and greatest openings in town can be found in The Dish. Notice a new restaurant in your neighborhood? Do tell.

2007_11_mood.jpg1) Mood: Opening in the former Taqueria Alebrijes space in the wharf is Mood, a nice-looking Thai place on Beach. Standard Thai dishes take up most of the menu, accentuated by a few Japanese dishes (okonomiyaki, unaju, Japanese curry) and some modern ones (Asian oysters Rockefeller). Fish dishes aside, nearly everything is under $10. Free delivery as well, but only until 9pm. Despite the obvious warning sign of a Thai place with Japanese plates, this could be a nice option for you Northsiders. 418 Beach Street, near Taylor, Fisherman's Wharf; (415) 922-6663 [Eater Staff]

2) Matador: The SoMa space that used to house dive extraordinaire Arrow Bar has morphed into Matador. Happy hour remains a respectable option, and surprise surprise, the new look centers around a bullfighting theme. Additionally, according to Thrillist, there is now toilet paper in the bathroom. 10 6th St, near Market, SoMa; (415) 863-4629 [via Thrillist SF]

3) Shokolaat: An Eater foray into Palo Alto is suitable only for Pinkberry, and now for pastry-specialist Shokolaat. From Chowhound: "After checking their web site for months, I saw that Shokolat finally opened this week, although lunch service won't start until Monday. The interior is sleek and stark - very a la minute, and probably very noisy once it fills up. My husband said it looked like a jewelry store from the outside ... The dinner menu looked short but sweet (lamb, rib eye, lobster - the usual suspects) but we were there at 3pm, so only bought pastries." 516 University Ave, Palo Alto; (650) 289-0719, website [CH]
