Down in the Mission, the cozy-looking interior of Monk's Kettle is beginning to take shape. Looking in from the entrance of the beer/wine tavern on 16th Street (between Valencia and Guerrero), the bar area—seating eight—will be to the right and a small dining area (~20 seats) will be on the left, complete with booths. The guys behind the project are also hoping to provide some outdoor seating on the sidewalk running along the Albion alley. On the kitchen side of things, they've finally hired a chef (one Kevin Kroger) to implement a menu to complement the gourmet beer offerings. Look for an evolved pub menu with burgers, sandwiches and salumi platters, and of course, beer pairings to go alongside. They are hoping to be open in "a couple weeks."
