Pre-Plywood Report: First Impressions at the New Dosa

First impressions from 1700 Post—once known as Goodwill, soon to be the second location of popular Mission eatery Dosa—are threefold:

1) Right off the bat, the main room is very big and very spacious. Ms. Tablehopper has it that the space is 5800 square feet, but the high ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows make it seem even larger.

2) Blame the leftover teal color scheme perhaps, but it still emits a coldness and hospital-like sterility of its former tenants (before Goodwill, it was a bank). It's a great space, but a challenging one.

3) The location—the corner of Post and Fillmore—couldn't be better, especially given the expected evolution of Japantown and the Fillmore over the next several years. It's right across the street from the new Kabuki and walking distance from the Yoshi's madness and the rest of the nearby venues.
