The Shutter: Last Day For Imperial Tea Court

Today marks the final day of business for Chinatown institution Imperial Tea Court; the teahouse that bills itself as the "first traditional Chinese tea court in America" will close for the final time on 1411 Powell Street at 6:30pm today. Its Ferry Building and Berkeley offshoots will remain open—how indicative of the current state of affairs is it that the Chinatown institution closes while the Ferry Building locale flourishes?—and there are strong rumblings that the shuttered flagship will likely rise again in a new location at some point.
