PACIFIC HEIGHTS: Saturday is still the date for SPQR, the long-awaited Roman osteria from Nate Appleman and Daniel Holzman. Coming straight from the mouth of Appleman himself, they are still aiming for dinner tomorrow night, but they still have to pass inspections and the like. Dinner will be the only initial offering (menu here), but lunch and weekend brunch are slated to arrive towards the tail-end of October. For now, the only way in is one of the 45 seats for dinner service. Nothing on the super-traditional menu is over $20; in addition to Roman staples like straciatella and cacio e pepe, Appleman has included an entire section of Italian fried food. More news as it comes in. [PLYWOOD]
