EaterWire: Checking in With The Piers

THE EMBARCADERO—It's been some time since we've stopped by the piers just north of the Ferry Building, but now that Kuletoville's arrival has come and passed in a blaze of flywheel glory, it's high time to turn the focus up the road to The Piers. Pier 1.5, you'll recall, will be home to the patio porn of Gaston Acurio's La Mar Cebicheria Peruana. Despite early estimates of an "early 2008" debut, ground is expected/hoped to be broken within the next few weeks. Also on tap are two other restaurants next door at Piers Three and Five. Though they are currently in the various phases of lease negotiations (i.e., nothing signed yet), the early word is that Pier Three is courting a bistro of sorts and Pier Five a modern Californian cuisine restaurant. Of course, in this town, those two genres could be pretty much anything. [EaterWire]
