PENINSULA—Ever since the General's Daughter shuttered in Sonoma earlier this summer, everyone has been wondering about the next move of its chef Preston Dishman. Early reports indicated that Dishman wanted to stay in the area and open a place to call his own, but now, the PressDem is reporting that finding a space in Wine Country was harder than anticipated for Dishman. Instead, he's moving counties entirely to take over the executive chef role at the Draeger family's Viognier in San Mateo. It should be a good, buzzworthy move for Viognier, the restaurant above the supermarket that has perennially underachieved since opening ten years ago and never quite got past the two-star threshold, even with Sir Gary Danko at its helm.
