Now that the health care ordinance has been upheld for the time being, it looks like the GGRA will appeal to the Ninth Circuit en banc. Furthermore, GGRA president—and Palio d'Asti owner—Dan Scherotter tells the Times the real reason the GGRA wants the mandate overturned: all that adding and subtracting is just so darn tedious: "Some of San Francisco's well-known restaurants have added small fees to bills, often with a note explaining that the charge goes to pay for health care. Mr. Scherotter, who runs an Italian restaurant, adds such a fee. He said the law had added to his costs and his administrative workload. 'It's a lot of tedious arithmetic,' he said." [ESF/NYT]
