Your EaterWire tidbits can be dropped in the tip jar. Don't forget: Jamie Lauren's quest for the title of Top Chef commences tonight @ 10pm.

2008_08_brick.jpgTENDERNOB—Friday and Saturday nights at Brick will now feature a new lounge and artist gallery. It's a 50-person space with its own private bar, small plates menu, and soundtrack. If all goes to plan, the room will be able to host a few holiday parties in the coming months. [EaterWire]

CELEB CHEFS—Regular Top Chef judge and Le Bernardin bossman, The Ripper himself, Eric Ripert, is on a national book tour for his new endeavor On The Line: Inside the World of Le Bernardin and he's making two Bay Area stops: Omnivore Books on Food on Cesar Chavez (12/11) and the CIA in St. Helena (12/12). The press materials bill the book as "a fascinating window into the competitive, pressure-filled environment of world-class cookery and the restaurant business at the highest level." [EaterWire]

MARIN—Geary Street's Roadside BBQ is opening a second location in Novato: "San Rafael-born Randy Kaplan and a longtime restaurateur will be opening Roadside BBQ at Northgate mall when its redevelopment is complete ... The Northgate restaurant will be like its San Francisco sibling; a family-friendly "down-home" place with fresh ingredients, and everything ... will be homemade." [MIJ]

OAKLAND—Hey, it's been awhile since we've heard about any Oakland food-related robberies: "A security guard was shot in the foot after police say he grabbed a robber and the cash he was carrying during a robbery of an Oakland market. Police say the guard grabbed one of three suspects who had just robbed the Koreana Plaza Market on Telegraph Ave. around 10 p.m. Tuesday." [KTVU]
