Eater Exclusive: Ryan Scott Leaving Mission Beach Cafe

New, 3 comments

The Mission: Hot off the wire comes the news that everyone's favorite local Top Chef alum, Ryan Scott, is—wait for it—transitioning out of his executive chef role at Mission Beach Cafe. Scott took over the kitchen just back in June, but now we're hearing that a new chef, a 22-year-old named Thomas Martinez (more on him and MBC's new direction later), will be taking his place beginning December 1. Until then, Martinez will be acclimating into the head chef role. The decision to split between Scott and Mission Beach Cafe owner Bill Clarke was reportedly amicable.

As for Ryan Scott, we have on good authority that he's got a few potential restaurant gigs in the works—you can't deny the man's a draw wherever he goes—and he'll continue to work on his catering business, Ryan Scott 2 Go. And even though any such scenario would likely be further down the line, let's not forget about those rumors about television offers.
