This time, it's Yelp's mysterious formula for ranking reviews and its aggressive telemarketing coming under fire. The article points out that Yelp only provides vague info about why certain reviews rank higher than others, creating a lack of transparency, a big problem for a company selling information. And then there's the telemarketing: "The aggressiveness of Yelp's sales team has also turned off owners. 'It's pretty bad,' Easley said. 'I had to say, 'Look, you're really pissing me off and I'm going to hang up the phone.' And then (the saleswoman) just kept talking. I finally had to hang up.'" [PD]
