LOS GATOS—Speaking of special dinners, David Kinch will be putting on a few during January Sundays at Manresa. He'll be doing something called Menus of Traditions, three courses of the chef's choice. THE CASTRO—According to Lady Hopstress and various Yelpers, Filipino restaurant Palencia has shuttered, leaving behind only a sign on the window that says economic conditions are the culprit for an extended holiday vacation. [TH]
ASIA—Michelin unveiled its first Hong Kong/Macau guide today. For the first time, a Chinese chef got the coveted three stars, chef Chan Yan-tak earned them at Lung King Heen, a Cantonese restaurant in the Four Seasons. The only other chef to get the tres was Michelin golden child Joel Robuchon, for Robuchon a Galera. The Hong Kong branch of L'Atelier de Joel Rubuchon also got two stars, giving Robuchon 24 stars total (Ducasse is next with 16). [AP]
