Union Square: Yesterday we took a look at one hotel project on the corner of Ellis and Cyril Magnin with Infusion Lounge, and today comes word of another hotel revamp just across the street. The Parc 55 is getting a $30 million facelift that will include a pair of newcomers on the dining side of things: a contemporary restaurant called Crave 55 and a "dramatic bar" by the name of Fizz.
Heading the kitchen at Crave 55 will be Brian Healy, a CIA grad who was most recently a sous chef at the Terrace at the Ritz. The details of the concept still seem a bit murky, but the press release describes the menu as featuring "a wide selection of items from all-American steaks and chops to freshly-rolled sushi." The 174-seat space, on the second floor of the hotel, is being designed by global architecture firm Gensler. Initial due date: March '09.
