The Bauer Train finally makes its way to Zare at Fly Trap, where for the most part, Hoss Zare's strong, signature style pleases: "In a world of cookie-cutter concepts, Zare offers something different; it may not be to everyone's taste, but the restaurant exudes passion." However, MB saves some entertaining zings for consulting pastry chef (and Top Chef alum) Marisa Churchill: "...her Not Your Grandmother's Pie ($9) would be better named Marisa's Folly ... it's a silly idea that doesn't go with anything else on the menu." Final grade: 2.5 stars. [Chron]
