East Bay: Tomorrow's Scoop is full of juicy nuggets from the quickly-growing Oakland scene—including that Dopo sequel we teased two weeks ago—but the biggest move in terms of the Bay Area culinary landscape might be James Syhabout's departure from his chef de cuisine role at Manresa.
To recap, it was Syhabout's second go-around under David Kinch in Los Gatos, and during his latest stint, he added to an already-impressive resume, getting Beard recognition and maintaining two Michelin stars. Before that, he nabbed 3.5 stars at PlumpJack Cafe in 2007, so obviously the dude can cook. But anyway, his new solo project will be in the East Bay, and he's currently waiting for the deal to close.
