All openings, big and small, get served up on a regular basis by The Dish. Know of a new restaurant or bar that we've missed? Pass along your sightings.
1) Russian Hill: Right next door to Tonic and a few doors down from La Folie, Loving Cup is up and running. The little shop's specialty is rice pudding, a relative rarity here in San Francisco, especially when compared to the other offering, the omnipresent frozen yogurt. The froyo here is of the blended toppings ilk, and coffee/espresso are also served. Random sidebar: we would also like to know if the Stones are the inspiration for the name, because that would be something. 2356 Polk Street, between Union & Green; (415) 440-6900 [EaterWire]
2) Pacific Heights: Thrillist, Tablehopper, and UrbanDaddy all put in their pieces on Swank, the new bar opening tomorrow in the Laurel Inn. Some of the common PR buzzwords found in the write-ups: 60s era, throwback/retro, cozy, Sputnik fixture, plush, and fireplace. It's on the corner across the street from the JCC. 488 Presidio Avenue, at California; (415) 346-7431 [EaterWire]
3) Oakland: The Chron brings word of a newcomer to the Dimond District: "Parmjit Singh (former owner of Mugal Indian Cuisine), opened Shaan in Oakland's Dimond District on Monday, serving North and South Indian fare" Lunch and dinner are served daily. 3434 Fruitvale Avenue, at Macarthur; (510) 531-1172 [EaterWire]
4) Albany: In the former Walker Pie Shop location, Bistro 1491 has opened up for business. It describes itself as "a casual dining, contemporary American restaurant" and already there's a hefty report on Chowhound. 1491 Solano Avenue, near Curtis; (510) 526-9601; website
