The proposal to lift a dated ban on new restaurants along Union Street is closer to a reality. Yesterday, it was voted to go to the full board in two weeks' time: "Supervisor Michela Alioto-Pier has introduced legislation to allow for five new restaurants. She had initially sought 10, but that number was lowered to five to address concerns from some residents about the eateries attracting drunken revelers ... Alioto-Pier also amended the legislation to allow restaurants to only apply for permits to serve beer and wine, not hard liquor." [SFE, previously]
