After nearly 80 years of business, Oakland institution Neldam's Danish Bakery is struggling to stay afloat, given the inherent difficulties brought about by modern times and several hundred thousand dollars worth of debt: "The landmark Neldam's Danish Bakery, which opened almost eight decades ago, has listed its property for sale and may be forced to close the doors of the family business this summer ... 'We're panicking because we know we've got until August to completely turn it around, or liquidate and move forward,' said Mike Neldam." [Oakland Tribune]
