Here then, the scene this past weekend at the brand-spanking-new Burger Joint, as sufficiently and succinctly set by our South Beach tipster: "It's Friday night and I was set to try a burger. What does 'technical difficulties' mean?" Computer meltdown? Pickle crisis? No, Burger Joint (apparently vying for the shortest restaurant lifespan ever) was forced to shut down operations just four days post-opening—and remains shuttered to this day—due to a pesky smoke alarm that kept going off, according to the restaurant. No timetable has been set for a reopening, though the weekend is a possibility. That, friends, is one hell of a smoke alarm.
