Trader Vic's Blowout

Tiki dorks/lovers arrived in spades for the mysterious, first-ever Trader Vic's warehouse sale in Richmond. We can only imagine the utter bliss involved for those aficionados who actually started tiki magazines: "Otto von Stroheim, a 44-year-old graphic designer and founder of Tiki News magazine, bought a vintage three-and-a-half-foot tiki for the indoor tiki bar (as opposed to the outdoor one) at his home in Alameda, Calif. 'My heart was pumping,' Mr. von Stroheim said of the warehouse sale, which he visited twice. 'It was like opening up King Tut's tomb.'" [NYT]
