Last night, Chez Papa rang in the restaurant era of Mint Plaza, and much to the Eater Spot Inspection Team's surprise, Jocelyn Bulow busted out some outdoor seating for the occasion. While a good-sized crowd enjoyed the scene indoors, a dozen empty two-tops were lined up in a three-by-four grid outside the restaurant. Now to be sure, we have no doubt that Mint Plaza will eventually be a fine outdoor promenade once it is fully realized and the other restaurants move in. But at this point, the prospect of dining outside in an empty and dark Mint Plaza in 50-degree weather, with security guards (pictured, above) circling the tables to keep the vagrants—and perhaps other visitors—at bay? Not ideal.
