The Yoshi's Effect: Muddy Swirl Shuttered, On the Market

Last week, while passing along word of the closing of Mozzarella di Bufala, the most recent victim of the Yoshi's Effect, we jokingly warned the two remaining neighbors—Sheba's and Happy Shabu—were next on the chopping block. However, we forgot to mention Muddy Swirl, the little coffee shop directly next door to Yoshi's. Well, it now has closed too: "The Muddy Swirl is on 1406 Fillmore Street - that awkward corner of the horrific strip mall which includes Dominos, Panda Express, and Popeye's Chicken. But it was open just a few days ago... I never actually went there, but it had its morning visitors who preferred to avoid the local Starbucks." And another little guy bites the dust, leaving chains and Yoshi's. The question now becomes: is this pattern a purge or a plague?
