Think it's hard to get a reservation at Chez Panisse? Try swinging an interview with Alice Waters, who is (allegedly) one of the most elusive celebrities in the Bay: "I called her office twice and was instructed each time to send e-mails. I did and was told Waters was on a two-month book tour, though I'd see her interviewed locally. The second time, I was informed she would be busy through the summer. But please forward your questions. What was that? I told Waters' assistant that my questions were none of her business. I stopped having to pass inspection the day I left the military. Goodbye, Alice." [Oakland Tribune]
