Noisy Restaurants

The lead story in today's food section is a 2000-word opus on how, ten years after the Chron incorporated its bell system, restaurants are indeed still noisy. Some other non-shockers: loud restaurants like their dins, noise causes hearing loss and servers don't really complain about noise levels to the union. But we particularly enjoyed the revelatory juxtaposition of a 23-year-old college kid that loves restaurant noise with a 61-year-old Piedmont resident who just wants to "have a conversation in a normal voice." Nope, didn't see that one coming. [Chron]
