National Doughnut Day

2008_06_kk.jpgWhile, Krispy Kreme and some other fried dough purveyors are celebrating accordingly today, we present a voiceover excerpt from The Poetic Yet Sad Lives of Some Chowhounds: "They were determined to make it to the Grand Opening of the Krispy Kreme shop in Daly City. We arrived around midnight. There was still a line out the door. We waited. We watched the conveyor-belt process through the glass windows. I salivated in jealousy at their sugar-glaze apparatus, wishing I could have one in my home ... I do not recommend Krispy Kremes that you might buy in the supermarket. But fresh off the assembly-line, they are a little cloud of heaven on the tongue." [CH]
