At Concord's Bronze Buddha, Nick Boer contemplates something we've always wondered about too: the rise of Thai restaurants that bill themselves as fancy: "Lately, restaurants such as Bronze Buddha Thai Fusion in Concord have gone upscale, borrowing creative concepts from California cuisine and adding a few dollars to the check. The problem — as with California cuisine's early days — is that pretty presentations won't, by themselves, equal delicious dining ... There's no reason why Thai restaurants should be stuck in the land of single-digit entrees, but it would be best to break out by adopting a best-and-freshest mantra, not a mantle of 'fancy." [CCT]
